Liver function test abnormalities and their clinical relevance in primary myelofibrosis

چکیده
Hepatomegaly is a common finding in primary myelofibrosis (PMF), mostly due to extramedullary hematopoiesis, as demonstrated by liver biopsies in previous studies, and high serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is usually the most frequent associated biochemical abnormality. In the current study, we examined the clinical, prognostic and molecular correlates of increased ALP and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in PMF.

Clinical features and therapeutic outcome of 30 patients diagnosed with primary myelofibrosis at the national center of hematology
Background: Primary myelofibrosis is characterized by clonal expansion of hematopoietic stem cell with a non-reactive clonal proliferation of fibroblasts and bone marrow fibrosis, which occurs at an extramedullary hematopoiesis. The clinical features of Primary myelofibrosis include anemia, marked splenomegaly and constitutional symptoms. Ineffective erythropoiesis and extra-medullary hematopoi...
متن کاملThe role of cytogenetic abnormalities as a prognostic marker in primary myelofibrosis: applicability at the time of diagnosis and later during disease course.
Although cytogenetic abnormalities are important prognostic factors in myeloid malignancies, they are not included in current prognostic scores for primary myelofibrosis (PMF). To determine their relevance in PMF, we retrospectively examined the impact of cytogenetic abnormalities and karyotypic evolution on the outcome of 256 patients. Baseline cytogenetic status impacted significantly on surv...

In a 62-year-old man with medullary carcinoma of the thyroid, a postoperative Tc-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid [(V) DMSA] study was requested. In the Tc-99m (V) DMSA scan. no abnormalities, indicating local recurrence or metastatic disease, were observed. However, there was increased uptake in the spleen and liver and significantly diffusely increased uptake in the bone marrow. The patient also h...

Myelofibrosis is reported in patents with primary hyperparathyroidism. It is also was reported in patents with sec- ondary hyperparathyroidism due to end-stage renal disease or Vitamin D dependent rickets .We present a case of celiac disease and osteomalacia which leads to secondary hyperparathyroidism and myelofibrosis.

Eighteen patients with agnogenic myeloid metaplasia with myelofibrosis were studied for clinical and laboratory evidence of immunologic dysfunction. Clinical findings included the presence of arthritis, vasculitis, and erythema nodosum. Laboratory abnormalities included the presence of circulating immune complexes, antinuclear antibodies, positive direct Coombs tests, elevated latex fixations, ...
